Railroad records, 1857-2002.

Copies of deeds of trust, mortgages, indentures, leases, agreements, and other instruments filed by railroad companies with the secretary of state. Liens seem to have been filed in books of Official letters, communications, and railroad liens until an undetermined date. Early records consist of handwritten copies of the documents, transcribed into the volumes. Beginning in the early 1900s, they consist of printed or typed documents pasted onto volume pages. Includes general railroad record,1867-1951; indexes, 1857-1917; general railroad records and liens, 1951-2002; and separate volumes for certain railroad companies: St. Paul, Minneapolis and Manitoba, 1879-1897; St. Paul and Duluth, 1857-1893; Minnesota Valley, 1866-1876; Hastings and Dakota, 1869-1883; St. Paul and Pacific, 1862-1897; and St. Paul and Sioux City, 1871-1884.
